i am trying to exchange my handset with another one i just bought. when i go onto the telus mobility site and try to do this it replies:

New hardware is incompatible with the old hardware. The handset exchange cannot be performed.

What can i do to fix this problem. I have a moto v710 and trying to switch it to a moto V3C. I do have a usb cable for the v710 but not for the V3C. Is there anything i can do?

Maybe give the Csr's a dingle bro, they may have some info on something your missing to complete the handset swap your trying to do.

I cant think of why it wont go through, it should, i can only think you have missed something small an its stopping the switch.

    Peace

Is the V3c branded for Telus, or did you buy it "unlocked"? Telus won't activate a phone that's not branded for their network, so if it was originally activated through someone else, they will tell you the ESN is no good.

When going to the telus site to swap the phones it only asks for the esn, if you have a replacement phone, and why your are exchanging it ( because broken, or upgrade) I filled out everything and still wont swap. so i dont think i am missing anything.

CSR=customer service rep. Maybe you need to call them and ask them why it won't take the ESN? There might be some reason they're not telling you with the automated system online.

Yes sorry i didnt get back in time to clear the CSR thingy, my bad.

Let us know what happens after you talk to them tho.

Yes, got me there man, i did just assume it was another telus phone, guess i blundered an got lucky lol.

Yes the V3C is a telus phone, but it was a verizon one first, this is the importance of the question, as telus will not activate a foriegn esn normally at all.

well i called them and i guess the phone had been reported lost/stolen and that is why i couldnt exchange them. I guess my next move is to go back to the girl i bought it from and tell her to see if i can get my money back or if she is the original owner to phone telus herself and get the lost/stolen thingy removed. Wish me luck!!!!

So it did have a story behind it, one of quite normal repetition.

I hope you get it resolved, i myself try to steer very clear of used deals an turn overs, because of crap like this in the end with carriers.

I honestly hope you get your coin back man,

Buy new, you then know where its been, used ones coulda had a dirty, shady sordid life prior to you, maybe a swim or two, maybe a contracted whacking or so, or worse yet, the previous owner didnt wash hands after using the washroom and did this every day an continued to use thier phone without thought. And now your holding it next to your face

Looking forward to hearing what happens from her when you tell her its lost/stolen?

    Peace

Wow that really stinks, but WarRaven is right. Sadly we hear the same story all the time. I try to warn people (although it's too late to help you this time) in the future, ask the seller for the ESN and call the provider to make sure the ESN is cleared for activation.

I hope you get your money back. If she is the owner and reported it lost/stolen, she could get in trouble for selling it (if she filed an insurance claim and kept both phones it's insurance fraud).
