I had a friend who took his phone apart and i decided to take the camera out of it. It sits on its own circuit and i believe it still works. I wanted to know if there is a way i can wire it up to work outside of the phone as a mini pinhole camera. If so how do i do it.

I'd take it into a university. Find an engineering student and ask them for help. Shell out $50 or so, and I bet you'd have a working camera within the hour.

it cant be that complicated. There must be a way to hook it up to a couple RCA cables.

Well, you would need to figure out what kind of voltage it needs to work. Hook up a series of batteries for power. Then find out where the output is. The storage drive isn't meant to send things out, so it might be tricky to rig a series of connections to get to an RCA jack. I think you're better off with my earlier recommendation.
