It would be worth looking into. I wouldn't think that unlocking a phone would void the warranty because people unlock phones to go overseas. I would think that the manufacturer would support that. The carrier might not like it (which, if you have an unlocked phone to begin with, there is no original carrier), but I don't think it would. I'm not an expert on
GSM though so don't take my word for it. I'd call the manufacturer and ask them.
