What is the best "new" cell phone within 2006? I need a new cell phone, not a PDA (computer phone).

    Wants:

    * A media center like feel, with a music player, video player, picture viewer, etc.
    * A mini transflash card slot because I have a 1gb card with music and stuff.
    * A camera and video camera
    * A good outside display that is big enough and color so I can do self portraits with the camera

Also, it would be really cool if there was a feature that lets you make your own ringtones instead of paying $3 for each 20 second instrumental.

The phone I have been looking at right now is the LG 8300 but I am not positve about it.

    What is your suggestion??

    Thanks!

I don't have it yet but I would go with the krzr the outside display is a good size (better than most) and the inside display is huge, also as far as making your own tones if you download Mpt here for free it's simple and easy. It has the transflash slot your looking for with camera and video (1.3 mp if I'm not mistaken). And last but not least the media center is pretty easy to use and find your way around.

The KRZR K1m (CDMA) is available for Verizon, AllTel and Sprint (though they don't list it on their site). The KRZR K1 (GSM) is not yet available for any US carrier (according to PhoneScoop).

I just got the Samsung A930 (Verizon) about a month ago. It has everything you mentioned, except the outside display. It has a cool look, kind of like a pager, and works great.

You can make your own customized ringtones until the cows come home. Put it this way, the Get It Now ones are $2.99 each. That being said, I've made at least a couple of hundred bucks worth of my own ringtones. Works like a charm with any editing software, once you make the tone (less than 300MB per), you email it to your phone, and bingo!, you're good to go.
