I'm going to ask this question in both forums as to get info from both users, I currently have a unlocked V3 and would like to use it with my nextel service, and before anyone says something I know my v3 is gsm and nextel is iden, so with that said my question is..... If using the right flash/flex files can I convert my v3 over to nextel? (if I used a nextel flash/flex file and I only need to use it for calls no direct connect. Or if everything is on board does anyone know or have heard of someone doing a little/lot of circuitboard work to get this to work. I know my way around a circuitboard and the phone can be replaced as I have 3 L7's and the V3 won't be missed. Thanks in advance Griff.

Re: V3 on nextel?
I don't know a whole lot about the internal workings of cell phone technology, but I am going to say that it is most likely not possible. The GSM encoding, transmissions, etc are so completely different from that of iDen, even if you could flash the V3 to Nextel software, your V3 just wouldn't be able to support the signal.
The long and short of it, I don't think you can teach a GSM phone to speak iDen. I believe that the pieces and parts of the various technologies are just not compatible, even with a software flash.LG VX9900 (enV)

Thanks for the info Paul, I was just hoping that that part of the board that controls the band could possibly be removed and replaced.

Re: V3 on nextel?
I'm just tired of the same bricks coming from nextel, compaired to what I usally pack (V3 L7) and they are in dire need of something eye catching before they jump the shark, cing already has ptt, they just need a bigger selection and a good ad and they'll have a decent consumer base to push the nextels out of their first place ptt running. It's bad enough talking to someone that sounds like a teacher from the peanuts.
