Hey all. I have a Motorola V557 GSM (Cingular). I made a wave file that I'd like to use as a ringtone on my computer, but I'm not sure how to get it to my phone. My computer isn't Bluetooth compatible. I've tried sending it to my phone using my Cingular addy, but it isn't wanting to work. The clip is only 29 seconds long, and in wave format, so I thought it would work. Any ideas? I don't have a media cable at the moment, BTW.

wave files are HUGE! probably larger than you are allowed to email to your phone...

get a demo of goldwave, GoldWave - Audio Software , and change it to an MP3 file - you can lower the quality of the file to drop it to less than 200kb THEN try sending it again...

if you have issues manipulating the file then post a link to it and nudge me via PM, i'll try to help

OK bear with me... I'm a cell phone noob.... I made it into a mp3 file, very small, under 30 seconds, but I got this message when I tried to email it to my phone:
The part audio/mped;name=filename.mp3 was removed from the message as not supported.

    Why?

I followed the instructions above about putting my ringtone on my Yahoo page and it worked until it told me the file type wasn't supported (of the ringtone). What file type should I be using? I had a mp3 file, BTW.

HOORAY! Just wanted to let everyone know that I figured it out and I got it to work... now when my buds call me I'll get to hear Social Distortion's Story of My Life. With my punk rock taste, its hard to find ringtones I want Now I can make them! Yay! Thanks everyone!

Lots of programs will convert wavs to mp3s and then from mp3s to v3i's. This is what I would recommend.

Sorry for taking so long to reply and I see you've already found your answer but in case anyong else has this problem; when first making your page you may have to select the types of files to allow, just make sure to select all, or you will get this error.
