Does anybody know if the V191 is just an unlocked version of the V195 (made for TMobile)? If not, what are the differences, and is the V191 a good phone for basic use? Thanks.

They are basically the same phone. Kinda like the difference between the V550, V551, V555, and V557. They all have the same chassis, but they are slightly different as far as features go.

Thanks. Do you happen to know how the V191 fairs as far as reception, sound quality, and durability goes?

From what I have heard, it is a pretty solid phone. Does well on reception and sound quality, just don't expect a lot of features with it (Bluetooth, camera, music player.)

Thanks again. Would you recommend any other phones (Cingular or unlocked) over it, staying within the same price range ($85). I don't need a lot of frills (e.g., don't need camera, bluetooth, MP3, etc.) Thanks.

    Re: V191 vs V195

For that price, I would say that that is an all around good choice for a phone. Inexpensive, sturdy, good battery life/reception/sound quality. It has speakerphone and supports mp3 ringtones, plus the data cable port is a standard mini USB port. I have the V555, which takes a special cable (and the connection leaves something to be desired at that,) so the only special feature I care about on my phone is that it is Bluetooth capable.

Thanks. Given your handle and that this is the Motorola section, I'm not sure if you would be able to comment, but the other phones I am looking at right now are the Samsung C417 and the Sony-Eric. 520a or 525a. Do you think any of these would be much better, or much worse, than the V191?

    Re: V191 vs V195

The Sony Ericsson 520a is a decent phone. I think it comes with a few more features than the V191 (camera, Bluetooth.) I know quite a few people that have this phone, and they seem to be very happy with it. As for the Samsung, I couldn't tell you anything because I have no personal experience with that phone.

One common complaint I've read about in reviews (in regard to the Sony 520a) is that it is really easy to accidentally push the camera button found on the side and take unintended pictures. Have you heard any of your friends complaining about that issue? Thanks.

I think one of them may have mentioned it once or twice. But other than that, I have not of any other complaints.
