    Hello everyone.

After much investigating and testing, I have managed to figure out a way to set my mp3s that I've uploaded to my KRZR as my ring tone. I made a guide with screen shots and instructions at the site below.

Guide to setting mp3s as ringtones on the KRZR

I hope you find this useful. Please let me know if you find success in this.

    Thanks!

Walmart and AllofMP3 used to be great sites to visit to copy short MP3 music clips for ringtones. One of my coworkers has asked me to set up her phone with 3-4 hip tunes as ringtones. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any sites who allow you to pull off MP3 samples as ringtones anymore. Both Walmart's music site (which used to be excellent) and AllofMP3 are now using non MP3 standards which are not compatible to download on your phone as ringtones.

Does anyone have a site they can recommend where you can get a good collection of music clips in MP3 format to use as ringtones?

Re: Guide to setting mp3s ringtones on KRZR

Ok, I just was able to transfer ringtones onto my phone using the advice given at Guide to setting mp3s as ringtones on the KRZR (this link was posted above)

    I have a Motorola MOTOKRZR K1m (white)
I have the Verizon software on the phone,
    Software version: 24.1_00.25.0C

I followed the advice on the web page exactly, with one exception:
when I first loaded the ringtone onto the phone, there was no /a/motorola/shared/ringtone directory, so I put the song in the /a/motorola/shared directory. I changed the attributes (as described) and rebooted the phone, but I could not find the song I had loaded on, either in sounds or ringtones. However, when I started up PTK commander again, the /a/motorola/shared/ringtone directory had been created. I put the song in that directory, and the ringtone was in my "My Ringtones" folder when I restarted!

    Thanks aznuwee!

What is the MyToneDB.db file and why does it need to be deleted? Will your procedure fail if that file is not deleted?

Hmmm, I did just as garratt did. Rebooted and found the ringtone directory, then I copied my 27 second mp3 to that folder on the phone, rebooted, and there it was, like magic. ONly now, when I go to Call Ringtones and go to my mp3 and hit ok, nothing happens, it just goes to back to Call Ringtones and doesn't select the mp3. ANy suggestions fellas?

Ok... had the same issue. I am using Verizon as my provider (I give this info just because it seems that all the different providers have different standards, policies and software blocks in their phones.) I found that in order to be able to set the ringtone to a contact, you have to send the ringtone to your phone as a picture file. In my case, I found that if I send the desired ringtone to my#@vzwpix.com, then when the msg comes in, open it, your ringtone will automatically begin to play. Select options and save sound. The ringtone will now be in you ringtones directory and you should be able to play it and set it to a contact.

    Hope that this helps.

Re: Guide to setting mp3s ringtones on KRZR

one other point... I have read on one of the other threads on here that ringtones must be less than 20 seconds in length (at least for the Krazor K1M). I also found that if you save your ringtone for a sampling rate of 56K/sec the size of the file will be cut in approximately half, thus saving memory on your phone, and reducing the transmit time.

Re: Guide to setting mp3s ringtones on KRZR

Any idea how to do ringtones on a computer running Vista? When I try to download the MSU file from that link, it says it's only compatible with Windows 2000 sp4 or WinXP sp2 computers? My old laptop died, so I'm XP-less now, and have Vista on my desktop. Any idea if motorola has a vista-compatible download out there?
