hi everybody im new here and hope im posting in the right place. this is regaring my nextel i870 phone. it is pretty beat up and damaged, was wondering how hard it would be for me to fix myself.. the front lcd screen stopped working, and the 2 buttons on the top by the antenna stick due to the outer case being cracked. would just be as easy as buying a new top flip and a new outter casing ?? or is the wiring inside pretty hard to deal with? i dont want to send the phone in because im sure the charges will be outrageous.

Im not too happy with moto nextel phones, i have the i580 which i use now and the inside screen is messed up, all the colors are off and they will just change and the only way to make it look normal is to grab the top flap and pull it back towards the antenna as if i was trying to make it open to a full 180degrees. but its under warranty but i dnt want to be left with out a phone so i would like to fix the i870 before i send this in. thanx for any help you guys may give and sorry if im a pain.

I think it's nuts to try and fix a phone yourself rather than just getting a new one. But if you want to take this on, the best parts supplier for Motorolas is in Hong Kong and their website is ... Cellular Nationwide Network

    Good luck.

    Hello,

there are many "free" manuals that show you how to dissasemble a nextel phone as well as how to put a new housing on that junk phone of yours.

the manuals explain in picture detail how to repair your i870 nextel phone.
we include these manuals with our orders, but simply ask for them when looking for them online. again some are free

Its not hard to replace, you just remove the 4 screws behind the battery cover (a secret one is behind the antenna) and remove the back part, also called back housing. Disconnect the flip ribbon cable from the board and replace. Put screws back inplace. Flips with the front housings can be purchased at sprint service centers for $55 if no service insurance. I also sell them myself for $30 for the flip and the front part (front housing).

    Re: moto i870 repair

I am planning on buying a Moto i870 and i already have the housing that i want to put on it but I can't find any website where it shows you how to replace the housing. I don't want to buy a manual if I'm only going to use it once, it would be a waste of money in a way. If anyone knows how to replace it and wouldn't mind telling me step by step what to do, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
