#1 | | Newbie | Right, so after a good amount of talking to verison clerks and asking questions to not-so-much prevail, i finally found most of the answers for how to add my mp3s as ringtones for my KRZR on the site aznuwee.googlepages.com
But the site commonly refrences a USB cable to connect the phone to the computer, but I have no such cable. My only leads are the Music-something-something kit that cost $30 at the verison booth or the memory card/adapter; price I cannot recall. Also, the phone came with a small 3 inch cord that plugs into the phone and appears to be an adapter to... Well, I don't recognize that port. Looks like a miniature version of a headphone jack? Anyway, there's gotta be just a regular USB cord to hook up with. Can anyone fill me in?

#2 | | Newbie | Upon looking over the forums for a little while, my guess is that I'm just behind on the USB times and that the port in my KRZR is some sort of standard USB now. I'll drop by BestBuy and check USB cords later today and ask around there. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Best Buy may not have what you need. Mine didn't. I think what you are looking for is a minu USB cable, also known as USB A to mini USB B.
Try Amazon.com
Also, here's a site for helping you make rings tones from CDs: Convert CD Audio Files To MP3 Ring Tones

If you have a digital camera with a mini usb connector you can use the usb cable from that as well...

#6 | | Junior Member | I put mp3's on my KRZR and they do not function as ringtones. You can play them but when you select as ringtone it does not ring with mp3 added. Most of the ringtones to me look like midi files.

Both the K1 and the K1m should be able to use MP3 ring tones. Do the mp3s that you transferred show up in the list of ring tones? If they do, but won't play, the bit rate might be too high. I'm not sure about the KRZR, but most Moto phopnes won't play MP3s higher than 192 bit. And some phones llimit the file size for ring tones, also. The v3xx has a 500 kb size limit for ring tone files.

| I tried that one with no luck. I noticed when I go under Sounds Settings/Call Sounds/Call Ringtone and try to assign it I get no message saying "CALL RINGTONE SET" as you do when assigning ones that came with phone.
I also noticed the ones that came with phone have what looks like a little lock next to them. The ones I load don't.
I use Datapilot to transfer ringtones. So I left them a message asking if mp3's should work on my phone. They replied that there engineer's are working on it and there will be an updte.

#14 | | Junior Member | I use a software program called Datapilot to put my ringtones on. I got word that the newest release 5.2.4 corrects issue with ringtones. So I installed update to 5.2.4. I can now use MP3's on my KRZR just fine. Not sure how or what got fixed but it now works.

#15 | | Junior Member | I was having a simular problem, I created my ringtones in Audio Editor Pro. 20 seconds max length. I used PK2 to transfer them over to the Ringtones directory. They appeared there and could be played, but then I could not select them to add them to a contact. Finally when I was in the Verizon store (my provider) I asked the tech about it. He didn't know for sure, so he sent me a sound file from his phone and it worked. Came home, deleted the ringtones that I had created from the phone, then sent them to my phone by sending them to my#@vzwpix.com and them come in and I save them, and low and behold, they work great. With Verizon there are seperate domains to send text to and pics to, if you send them to the vtxt domain, it will not work, they have to come through the vzwpix domain. I don't know how other providers work, but for this works for Verizon.
