V551 vs i880 Cables

I just switched from a Moto V551 to the i880.
I have several chargers (travel, desktop, car), data cable etc. for the V551. I got the i880 because it looked to be compatible with the V551 stuff.

But when I tried to plug the V551 cables into the i880 I discovered they do not physically fit. The number of pins appear to be the same, but it looks like the middle locking tab is wider on the V551 cables.

Has anyone compared the cable pin out's of these two models? If I modify the locking pin to allow the V551 cables to plug into the i880 am I asking for trouble or saving some $?

They look the same but there not. v551 charges on the 2 entrance that are together of the phone, the i880 used the 1st and the 3rd entrance to charge the phone, which are the left and right not the one in the middle. Your v551 charger will work with the older models, like i60,i90, ect..

Thanks for the info. Guess I have to buy more stuff for my toys. Sigh.....
