I have read of some people having success with putting MP3 files on their micro-sd card and using them as ringtones. I can't seem to get anything other than the default ringtones to come up in my phone's list of ringtones. I have tried editing my mp3 to 20s and 128kbps, the file came to 316kb. Someone said the file should be in the micro-sd card's /mobile/audio folder. I put it in there, nothing. Everything has showed up in my mp3 player however and is playable, but I can't seem to get anything to work as a ringtone.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to do custom ringtones without purchasing the $50 software. Does any of this depend on who my service provider is or should all V3m's work the same in this regard? I am with Alltel if it matters.

Please let me know for sure first of all, if it's possible, and second, how? Many thanks for any help provided. By the way, I have searched Google and this forum, and if my answer is out there (which it likely is) I haven't found it. So I apologize if it's right under my nose and I opened a new thread for it anyway.

I have a v360 , and in order to use mp3's as ringtones, it has to be in
the phone's memory, not the micro sd card.
    Hope this helps.

    Jakatolla is correct.

Select the ring tone on your memory card, hit the Menu key, choose MOVE, when it asks you where, say PHONE.

Unless your carrier has disabled this feature, you should now see it in your list of ring tones.

You may have to access your phone's file system, and copy the ringtone you created from your PC to the appropriate folder in your phone's memory. For Motorola phones, you should download two free apps: Motorola Software Update (MSU) and P2kCommander (P2K). Google for each of those. You will need to have MSU running in the background before you can launch P2K (you may need to find out which version of P2K will work with your phone).
