Problem with MPT & v551

I have a really old CD of MPT... version 2.0 I've been using MPT with my old PC for years, and just installed on to my new PC. Of course, it went wild with updates. The first couple of batches of updates went fine. But with the last (I think to 4.56c ? ) it does not detect my phone any more. It prompts me to update an address book, but then says I have the most recent version. At some point, I saw some screen that I think had to do with USB devices or plug-and-play devices, and there was an "Other device" listed. I think that was a screen that showed up before, and there was a Motorola Modem or something like that.

So... how to troubleshoot and fix?

And is there a way to get a copy of MPT that is a little more modern to skip the half hour of updates?

Make sure you do not have any old drivers installed, if so uninstall and leave only the updated one.

Where would I find the driver? In Device Manager, only USB controllers are listed. There's no USB Devices control panel, so... I'm not sure where to go.

On your PC go to your "control panel" and look under "modems" a motorola modem should be listed if not try installing again, also don't forget to re-boot your PC.
