Hey in the past I have used bitpim to put ringtones on my cellphones and I now have a motorola v3m and I cant seem to get it to work. I was curious if anyone knows how to put ringtones on a motorola v3m.

unfortunately, motorola phones are a pain with bitpim. this is what I recommend, let me know what happens & I hope this helps!

    1) Launch BitPim
    2) Go the Edit Menu, and Choose "Settings"
    3) Click on the "Browse" button on the right
    4) A list of available COM ports will appear at the top of the screen
    5) If everything is setup correctly, you will see "Motorola USB Modem" under "Available Ports"
    6) Highlight "Motorola USB Modem", and click on OK at the bottom of the window
    7) Click "OK" to exit the BitPim Setting Window.
    8) To test the connection, click on the blue "i" button in the Main BitPim toolbar. Your phone should beep, and information about the Phone should appear.

Ok, so the motorola thing isn't on the list of available ports. when I plug in the phone windows asks me to install the hardware, but I don't have the cd it needs to do so... So, I don't know what to do.

I have a link to a website but this forum will not allow me to post links until I have posted 10 replies.

therefore I am going to post 8 more replies in this forum just so I can put the link in.

Finally, I can post a link.

Follow this link to download the driver for your phone.

MOTODEV > Documentation & Tools > USB Drivers for Motorola Products > Handset USB Driver for Windows

    Hope it helps!

hmmm. try sending the ringtones to the phone under the "sounds" section on the bitpim menu... they should then appear in your sounds menu on the phone where you should be able to set them as ringtones..

    hope it helps.

ok, so your probably gettign really annoyed with me by now, but thanks for your help. So, that isn't workign either. i was looking at the phone choices and there is no V3m. There is a v3c and a v3cm I tried both but neither work... I was curious if that is the reason why it isn't working?

    brock50,

If your providor is Verizon, that could be the source of the problem. They are known for disabling many of the phones features that other providors leave alone. Check with them to see if what you want to do is possible. If they say it is, then ask them for instructions. They may restrict you to buying ringtones only from their web site. Or if they have become more liberal, you might be able to use Motorola Phone Tools software to transfer files to the phone.
