Someone please help me with my KRZR!!

OK. This may be long, but I need help. My cell provider won't help and I am not familiar with downloading info from your phone into the computer. I have a KRZR, k1m. I have had it a year. I paid full retail at @ 300.00! I took many pictures with it. I did not store them on a card, just to the phone. I had NO idea that a 300.00 phone would last less than a year, ugh. These pictures are so important to me and I know that i was stupid not to store them to a card or buy a USB cable sooner. These are pictures of my nephew who was born 3 months early and a dear friend who has since passed on. These are the ONLY pics of my friend. Also many of my kids. At my cell provider they said that I could file a claim with insurance, but upped the detuctible for my phone. I have to pay 100.00 for a USED phone. They refuse to fix it. Everything else works, just the display colors and letters are all swirled together and you can't read it at all. They said I could buy the disk and cable. That is fine. These pics are worth the 40.00 that the cable costs and I would pay hundreds for the pics. They can NOT guarantee me that the cable will help me get my pics out. When I get the disk and cable, will I need to press anything on my phone to start downloading? Do you think that I should be able to get them out? Or are they lost forever? If the cable and disk will not work, does anyone have any other ideas on how to get them out? Please help. Thanks a bunch!
