How do I use the microSD card to get music from my PC to my new Motorola / MOTO W755?

Just got a Moto W755 from Verizon yesterday and it came with a 2GB microSD card for music. I formatted the microSD card, put it into my Sansa View, and hooked my Sansa up to the computer. I copied some mp3s on the card, but while the phone reads the memory used, it won't pull up the songs. How do I format the microSD card or what software do I download to get my phone to read the card that came with it???

Put the microSD card in. Then you have to purchase a usb cable for the phone. Unless you have one lying around like I did because I had one come with my camera. Then download Vcast Music Manager off the Verizon website. It will install the drivers for the phone. Connect the phone and Vcast Music Manager should detect your music and then sync it. Also you can Sync it using Windows Media Player. Hope this helps!

Format the card while in the phone.
drag n drop music files to the music folder.
play with music player.
read your phones manual for more info.

Mp3 and WMA music files should go in the MY_MUSIC folder on the root of the card. This folder will be made when you format the card using the phone's menu.

Alternately, you can use the "SYNC MUSIC" menu option on the phone if you have a USB cable, and then use either Windows Media Player or Verizon's Vcast Music Manager to "sync" music to the MicroSD card inserted in your phone. Read the Phone's manual for more info.

The W755 uses a standard USB-A to Mini-B cable. Same cable used by the Razr, Krzr, Blackberries, some Mp3 players, portable external hard drives, some digital cameras, etc.

Hey all, another related question that I don't feel needs a separate thread. I already have a bunch of mp3s on my phone, how do I set them as ringtones? None of them have a "Set As" in the options menu. I heard they have to be under 30 seconds, and some are, but not even those ones can be set as ringtones.

On the Verizon phones, files accessed/viewable by the Music Player app of the phone can not be used as ring tones.

The files must be in the right folder on the phone's file system if you want to use it as a ring tone.

There are several ways to accomplish this.

The email trick (attach a 300kbyte or less .mp3 to an email, sent to yournumbr @vzwpix.com, where yournumbr = your 10 digit cell phone number), however sometimes verizon's network re-encodes the files and they can only be saved as SOUNDS on your phone, so they can't be used as ring tones.

Or Using P2KCommander to add to the file system via USB cord. See -> mark.cdmaforums.com/P2KC-Tones.htm NOTE: this works for non-verizon phones too, as long as you know the correct folder location.

My issue is similar to others in this forum and related to the original question ("how to use the microSD card to get music from my PC"). I hope that someone can help me sort out a problem that neither Motorola, VCast/Rhapsody or Verizon can/will help me with. Love the Moto Z6c phone (I've had it since Feb) but have just started downloading mp3s from my PC and the phone appears to get hopelessly confused sorting music by genre or by album (it recognizes most jazz and rock but assigns numbers to any other genre and even tho all the albums I want are on the microSD card, the phone's music controls can't find them.) I've tried downloading the mp3s using Rhapsody (v4.0), WMP and even Windows Explorer - same results every time. Anyone else have this problem??

The music player on the Verizon fimrware has some flaws... for example... on the Dare, Voyager and enV, their music player app doesn't properly read the TRACK Number in the ID Tag... so when you play an album.. the songs play out of order.

I assume your response means that the same (and maybe more) flaws exist for the Moto Z6c? What is most frustrating is that Verizon refuses to admit that a problem exists on their side, even tho I've proven definitively that the problems I am having are in the phone (NOT my music files, NOT my two computers and NOT any of the three transfer/sync processes I've used.)

Yes, my point was its safe to assume these types of problems imact other phones that also use Verizon firmware...

A V9M or Z6c using "moto" firmware (like Alltel or US Cellular) has a different music player that doesn't have these issues.

I finally soved the problem I've been having getting Vcast and/or Windows Media Player to download to my Z6c in such a way that I can view and play music by genre, album or artist.
I knew that all (or most) of Verizon's newer cell phones will only work with WMA, not MP3 files, however I had been making the assumption from day one that the Vcast literature was correct when it said that "MP3 songs will automatically be converted to WMA format when syncing them from your computer to your V CAST Music phone."
WRONG. Neither Vcast nor WMP converts accurately and neither handle the media information associated with an MP3 file. However when I convert MP3 to WMA files on the PC using a WMP plug-in before downloading, both Vcast and WMP will download the WMA files and all of the media information accurately. Even better, the WMA files are smaller than their MP3 equivalents and I think the sound quality is a little better.
I probably won't hear back from them however I have passed this on to Verizon.
