Question about Motorolla Q

Im thinking about buying a verizon unlocked Q, but i dont want the data package quite yet, probably will change to it later, but i dont want to pay for those extras right now, phone and text is good for me...But i was wondering if verizon allows that? I have heard that data packages are a must and that you arent even allowed to not have a data package. Any help is appreciated. thanks!

i have a q and no data package. although there are really strange charges to my bill since i got it, but i think that was verizon messing up

really dont know though, but as far as im concerned you dont need a data plan, and itll just charge you by kb for internet use etc
