ok so I just got a motorola W755 in purple, and on my old phone (samsung sch-u540), I could send a txt msg to myself & save it as a ringtone, but this phone isn`t letting me do that?
Does anyone know how I can get free ringtones, without using mobile browser? thanks=)

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
You can download MIDI files from myxer.com, they offer almost any ringtone for free and if they don't have it you can upload your own song and create a ringtone. Save the file on your computer. Attach the file to an email and send email to your phone (depending on service provider, myxer should provide the email address to your phone, however myxer does not have the w755 listed as a phone, but I put the V3C as my phone and it still works).
After you receive the email on your phone, hit Options, go to Save Sound, hit Set As, then hit save as ringtone. Hope this works for you.

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
Since the original message was posted, myxer.com has updated and can now send directly to the w755 through text message. Then all you have to do is save as a ringtone.

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
To download P2kCommander, go here:
http://s5vi.vxxxstuff.com/commander/
For the W755, download version 4.9.E (it's a zip file, so you will have to extract it first). Also, if you don't have Motorola Software Update (MSU), you can download it here:
Motorola - Support - Software Update
The order of events would be (1) connect your W755 to the compter with USB cable, (2) launch MSU, and (3) launch P2K. Once you're in the phone's root directory (/a), you can view the file structure and download files (ringtones and pictures) to their folders. This is how I have downloaded ringtones to my wife's W755, although I'm sure the other methods listed in these posts would work as well.

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
OK. But the only way for me to connect my phone is through My Music Sync Is there another way and is this necessary

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
You don't need to go thru Music Sync. If you have a USB data cable, plug your phone into the PC [if you don't have a USB cable for your W755, buy one here: OEM Motorola W755 USB Data Cable (SKN6371) - Cell Phone Data Cable & Memory for Motorola W755.]
After connecting your phone to the PC and having your PC recognize the phone, then launch Motorola Software Update. It should also recognize your phone - you will see info on the left side of the screen (e.g., MEID #).
Once MSU recognizes the phone, launch your P2kCommander (I use version 4.9.E with my wife's W755; if you don't have that, you can download it here: Index of /commander).
From there, you may have to tweak a few of the program options, but you should be able to access your phone's file system, and add ringtones to the appropriate file folder.

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
If you have the MP3s ready as ringtones, place them somewhere on your PC where you can easily find them (like the Desktop). Then, with MSU still running in the background, launch P2kCommander on the PC. You will see two columns, each showing the file system on your PC (C: drive). You may have to tweak the options, so look in the Options drop-down menu and check the setttings. My wife's W755 works with all the Manual settings unchecked, P2k tuning set to "New (fast) P2k cmds," and Miscellaneous options all unchecked. Then, using the drop-down drive selector on the left-hand side, change it from C:\ to /a P2k Phone system, which is the root directory of your phone's file system. Click on the Re-Read buttton, and that will bring up the icon for the root directory. Double-click it to expand into the other folders. From there, you will be able to find the folder where you store your ringtones.

Does anyone know where to find apps and how to add them using Pk2

Re: Free ringtones for W755?
What kind of apps did you have in mind? Using P2kCommander will enable you to add ringtones (including ones you can make yourself) and graphics files like JPEGs that you can use for wallpapers on your phone's screens. There are a lot of apps (e.g., games) that you can download, but you don't use P2kC for that ... you pay Verizon for them. BTW, did you get your P2kC working?
