V551 voice record playback problem

I just recently discovered the voice record capability of my V551. I would find this very handy, and have "mastered" the recording part OK (I think - at least it shows on that page), but I can't play back. I've pored over the User's "Manual", and practiced mightily, but not a peep. Is there an easy way to check the speaker, to ensure that the problem doesn't rest there? By the way, the unit is basically backup to shouting - I seldom use it, just keeping the battery charger company!

Found it myself: Voice playback occurs through the earpiece only, not through the speaker - unless there are more delights for me to discover inside this contraption...
