Hi, I have a V266 (I know oooold phone, but I like it) and I'm trying to use it as a modem to get online with my PC. I have the data cable and all the drivers installed, MPT is installed. I can already transfer pix, ringtones, ect. I have the user name and password and dial-up # for my provider, just when I enter all this info it won't work. It says it's trying to connect for like 5 mins, then it just says can't connect. Anyways, anyone know what the prob is? I REALLY need this to work, have to cancel home online, can't afford anymore. Using cell phone only chance of getting online, thanks! By the way YES I do have a data package and I'm with Metro PCS.

question now becomes have they locked the DUN functionality on that phone the way that Verizon does with theirs? There may be a seem edit that you have to do to unlock it.

Well I called Metro and asked them Y I couldn't get online with my phones browser or use it as a modem, they said that phone doesn't support browing on a phone or something like that. I think they're lying cuz if it didn't support it why would it have a built it browser? And anyways I had this phone a few years ago and I swear I remember using the web feature. I'm just gonna take it to the metro store and ask them tho.

    Re: MPT and modem

did you buy the phone from MetroPCS or did you bring it to them from a different carrier? If they did the "MetroFLASH" process on it, it will only work for voice and text - no data services will work for pix, flix, or mobile web. You would have to get their actual firmware flashed to the phone (since they dont actually FLASH the phone, all they do it PROGRAM it).

but you should still be able to use DUN through another service provider being that the hardware is capable of doing it. When you go to dial the number to connect to the ISP, do you see that phone number appear on the phone's screen as if you were using the handset to dial a number?

for gits and shiggles, since i dont use MPT to do any DUN, go to www.nocharge.com and download their dialer application and tell it that you want to use your Motorola USB Modem to dial a connection. See if it works then.
