I have a silver Motorolla KRZR and am wondering how I can redirect incoming SMS texts to my email address.
If an email is sent to my phone's email address, I can, through use of a filter (via Tmobile's website), forward those incoming emails (not SMS texts) to an email address of my choosing.
What I'm looking to do is have any incoming SMS texts forward in the same manner.
Has anyone accomplished this and, if so, how?

Re: Redirecting SMS txts to email addy
hmm... would you not be able to forward your actual phones email address to a different address?
the phones email address (for SMS texts) should be something like:
[email protected]
for instance on verizon the SMS server is:
[email protected]
someone can send an email to that address and it arrives at my phone as an SMS message. The fact is that SMS system is basically just email and should be capable of forwarding in that manner. I can also use my phone to send SMS to an actual email address. So I see no reason why you should not be able to do that once you have figured out the address that your phone uses. Just call your carrier and say something like "I've heard that I can have someone send an email to my phone and it comes through as an SMS, but I need to know the address to have people send it to". Then just turn around and enter that address into your email forwarding application.

FIRST SCENARIO:
My daughter, who sends about 1,000 texts a day, accidentally breaks her phone (for a multitude of reasons, but let's say this time it's water damaged and will not function). I'd like the option of redirecting all of her SMS texts to an email so she could respond as needed.
SECOND SCENARIO:
My ex-wife sends me a slew of hostile SMS texts (or just tries to innundate my inbox with the same garbage). I'd like a record of each SMS text to be automatically forwarded to an email address for obvious reasons. While I could forward each individual text, it could be a time consuming process... and NO, I will not change my phone number.
Yes, I could, but I'm not asking about redirecting emails to my phone's email address... I'm asking about redirecting my incoming SMS texts to my phone TO an email address.

Re: Redirecting SMS txts to email addy
i think you mistook my meaning. I meant forward [email protected] TO [email protected]
however, from what you are saying, the system will not allow that? which makes no sense to me in actuality since an SMS message is simply an email message. one can send email to [email protected] and you get it as an SMS, or you could send an SMS to [email protected] and they get it as an email.
Considering those two facts above, it certainly seems logical that you can forward all things sent to yournumber@tmobile TO youraddress@ISP. With that done, both emails and SMS messages (which are essentially the same thing as they can be sent to and from phone > email addy and email addy > phone) which are sent from one place and addressed to yournumber@tmobile should end up at youraddress@ISP.
does that make sense now?
edit:
if things truly dont work that way, they may have a filter in place of some sort that prevents things like what you want to do. in that case, I would (for your daughter at least) if she breaks her phone, inform people to send the texts to [email protected] until she gets the phone fixed.
