Hi, Im new to all of this cellphone ringtone buisness and I want to have 24's ringtone on my phone (not the theme of the show, but the ringtone they use for their phones in CTU). I lost my connector cable, but my phone does have access to Rogers (my cellphone provider) browser, I can search for the ringtones, and I find a bunch of 24 ringtones, but all it says in the description is "TV theme", and no preview of it anywhere (at least, not that I could find). So Im not going to spend 3.50 for it unless I absolutely know what it is.
My phone is a V551, nothing special....so I tried the voice record feature and played the ringtone on my computer, which worked great. But I have no idea on how to (if it is possible) convert it to a ringtone without connecting it to my computer.
Lastly, I could buy another connector cable, but really....I dont think it's worth it just for 1 ringtone.
So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't want to buy another USB cable for your V551, that's up to you. However, you can buy another one for about $17. Check out the following:
As far as clipping sound files and converting them to MP3s for ringtones, I use a free program called Audacity. If you don't have it, Google it and download it. Audacity is a great program, and pretty easy to use.Last edited by Tony E!; 01-13-2009 at 10:35 AM. Reason: removed link

Yea, those were about the prices I was finding, and $17 for a ringtone? no thanks.
Maybe theres a way to search the cell phone ringtones on my computer, preview it....then find it on my cell phone browser and buy it? (I'd be willing to spend 3.50 if I knew it was the one I wanted)

No no, not $17 for a ringtone! $17 for a USB data cable. Looks like the link in my previous post didn't show up. I was showing you a link to the USB cable for your V551 at a company called Wireless Emporium. Let's see if it shows up this time:

Madman ...
I have a "24" ringtone that I made myself using Audacity. Let me know if you are interested, and I'll be glad to e-mail it to you.

Don't you have a friend or somebody that have access to the computer with USb cable? What I mean is that you can have somebody download the ringtone to the computer, or even to his or her phone and then send it to you via bluetooth. Or you can buy a USB bluetooth and install it in your computer so you can send any info. to your phone, and not just one ringtone. I hope this help.

Re: I lost my connector cable but I want to download ringtones...
As it turns out, my computer already has bluetooth, and my phone does as well.....so no need to buy any cables! After I got motorola phone tools, everything worked like a charm (a ton of websites have the 24 ringtone in mp3 format). Thanks, guys.
oh, and when I said $17 for a ringtone, I meant, the only thing I would be using the cable for would be the ringtone (dont need anything else), so esentially it would be a $17 ringtone .

OK, that makes sense. Hey, glad to hear that you were able to get things working with BT and MPT.
