Ittai Kidron, Oppenheimer's stock analyst, reported that Motorola plans to launch 10 new smartphones in the second half of this year and that at least one of them will be running Windows Mobile. No mention of names of the phones, pricing or availability. I'm sure we'll be hearing something in the near future and will keep you updated.

I truly hope these phone aren't just about specs. I am tired of specs just for specs sake. You put all that power into a device and then handicap it with WM. You have to offer more than great specs to lure customers these days. Take videogames, for instance. Sony and Microsoft gambled on better specs, Nintendo went for a better (or totally different) gaming experience. Similarly, what separates the iPhone from most devices on the market is the software, not the hardware. Even Palm has learned that lesson with the Pre. Great specs matched with killer software is what companies need to bring to the table. Just adding more memory, bigger screens, more megapixels, and faster processors won't cut it anymore. How many devices have better or equal hardware specs to the iPhone, but don't garner as much interest? Not even the Pre has absolutely amazing hardware, but the software is creating amazing buzz for company many thought to be dead. Moto is in a similar position (as Palm), so they better push out devices with not just good specs but equally or more impressive software.
