Setting Custom Ringtones

Alright, I'm in total confusion. After reading threads about custom ringtones on the Krave ZN4, I'm still having problems setting the new ringtones to the default ringtone for all calls. I have sent small mp3 and aac files (<500K) to the phone and can play the file nicely. But I can not find where to "set" them as a ring tone. I've been over it, several other Motorola owners have tried, I even triewd a few Verison stores for help. Now I am turning to the forums. Could some one please list a step by step recipe for setting a sound or song to be the default ringtone for the Krave ZN4. I just bought the thing after seeing that the ringtones could be customized without paying. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

How are you attempting to install the files on your phone? There may be different ways to do it, but I have loaded MP3s on my Moto Z6tv and on my wife's W755 using a USB data cable and two free software apps: Motorola Software Update (MSU) and P2kCommander (P2kC). On my phone, I copy MP3s or MID files as ringtones to /a/brew/mod/my_ringers in the phone's file system. I'm not sure about your Krave, but my guess is that it would be the same ... maybe our Krave users could chime in here.

If you are a VZW customer, you can forget using bluetooth to install ringtones; others are successful sending the MP3s to their phones by e-mail. You may have some options.

The tones are on the phone by sending them via pix message and on the memory card. I have them in aac and mp3 format. I have them in full song and shortened versions, ~30 secs. It seems that no one at Verizon or Motorola wants to help. I have a "Motorola" USB cable on order, no one seems to want to carry that either. All I would like to do is set my own ringtones. The tone that came with the phone are lame and the purchased ones only uses the popular portions of the songs. I know I can do better. Sorry about the whine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Verizon won't help because they want to SELL you their ringtones. Motorola is a hardware vendor, so making & loading ringtones is not their territory. If you are interested, here is a good site for future cellphone-related purchases:

Thanks, I'd already thought about that. They don't even sell a cable that will work to connect to the PC. I have one on order and I will be going the PC route, but was hoping someone would share the process in the mean time.
I read in other older threads of someone setting a pic message as a ringtone on the Krave, but have yet to see anything as to exactly how it was done.

If you already have a USB cable on order, then that should work. Per my previous post, I use a USB cable, and two free software apps (Motorola Software Update and P2kCommander) to load ringtones on my phone. Let me know if you need any help with those.
