I have a Motorola KRZR-K1. It's a quad band phone (GSM) and has the same frequencies as Canada, and all countries in the world. I want to take this phone, and hand it to somebody in another country with a different GSM than Canada's (however still supported by the cell phone). Can that person get my phone, buy a SIM card in their country, activate the card and then pay a monthly phone plan bill to use the phone? I've tried it and the company in the country said the phone needs to be unlocked first, but isn't it already since it's quad band and works with any SIM card here in Canada?
