motorola i880 freezes

recently I purchased an I880 on ebay & started up with Boost.
Everything was fine, Until I upgraded software and tried to install webjal. I don't think it worked . (at least i don't know where to find that info on my phone?) now my phone freezes whenever i try to get to my media center. and as of today the phone freezes up completely when i try to turn it on. I now have a phone that just does not work at all !
I've spent days searching on line,without success and I don't have any tech support or warranty Any ideas or suggestions....?

Have you tried uninstalling webjal?

it isn't listed or doesn't show up anywhere on my phone. At this point in time i can't
even get the phone past "trying to connect' on start up.
the only thing i can think of, is trying to do a master 're-set' and then i think i'll lose everything that's on the phone??

No, master reset will just reset phone to it's default state, any original apps and software will remain, you will lose all your contacts though.
