Can't Charge Motorola v197 with usb cable to computer

Hello,

I bought the Motorola v197 cause it's cheap, unlocked, and has quad band.

My charger broke and my phone died. I tried to connect it to my pc with the usb cable to charge it but it doesn't do anything. It doesn't give me any error at all. Just blank. I installed the drivers from the motorola site but it still doesn't work. Do I need a special cable or is my phone broken?

Yeah, but the thing is that I'll be leaving the country soon so I don't want to buy a regular charger cause of then I'll need an adapter and all of that. I want to just have a usb cable and charge it through my laptop. So I'm wondering why the usb cable that I tried didn't work. Do you need a special kind of usb cable?
