Think I have a dud battery. Need some input or suggestions.

The battery dies within six hours, like clockwork. Even with ZERO calls and the only widgets being a calendar and Blur's Messaging hub, I can't stop the drain.
I've deactivated the News widget, Happenings widget, etc., etc. -- no difference.
Full disclosure: I'm using a generic charger, and the phone has died about 1,000 times (especially now that the battery has become an issue).
I've since tried Moto-brand chargers and the battery still drains steadily. T-Mobile diagnosed it as a phone issue and sent a replacement. Still an issue.
I was stunned to see CNET's review that the Cliq has 13.5 days of standby time. I can't get 13.5 hours.

Do I have a dud battery?
What could be causing this?
Is there anything I can do to fix this without replacement?
If I get a new battery sent, should I get a Moto-brand charger and throw away the generic?

ANY input would help. Thanks!
