Hello everyone, I'm new here and I wanted to ask some people about the Motorola Defy.

Well, I've been an iPhone user since the first generation and haven't had too many problems with them. I like how their user interface is configured and their "ease to sync."

However, I'm training for the Coast Guard and in general I've always been pretty tough on my cell phones, So knowing that the iPhone is probably the furthest thing from scratch resistant and water/shock proof you can get. I found the Motorola Defy and it looks like a nice substitute.

So, Does anyone here have any hands-on experience with it? How water proof is it? How's the Android operating system? How's the call quality? How's the keyboard for texting? How well does it sync with Macintosh computers, or does it at all?

I'm also quite interested in this phone because the T-Mobile monthly payment is cheaper than AT&T's and Verizon's for the iPhone 4.

Here's what my main uses for it will be,

Calling (although I rarely call anyone)
    Texting
    Twitter
    FaceBook
    Email
Games (Maybe, If not no problem)

I'd love to be able to reply to someone's email or text while snorkeling or swimming laps, or even post to Twitter just for the heck of it.

I will not be putting much music, or video on it. I will probably just get an iPod (of some sort) for that.

Anyway, Thank you for reading this thread and I hope to hear back from you guys.

    --Benjamin
