My Razr screen broke, and I think in trying to fix it, I broke the phone even more. It's six years old, though, so I decided now is as good a time as any to pick up a new one. If possible, I'd like to salvage my contacts, videos, and pictures, but I was wondering what exactly the data transfer process is like. Specifically, will the folks at Verizon be able to see all my photos and file titles? There's some private stuff I'd rather keep private...

Of course I'd prefer to just do it all at home on my own PC. I've been following a guide that uses something called the P2K Commander, and both my computer and the program read my Razr, but the "P2k Mobile Phone" icon never appears. I'd post a link to the guide, but I don't have 10 posts yet. Anyone know how to do an at home transfer or what the problem could be?

I assume you're referring to the original razr. Are the videos and pics stored on the sd card? If so the process is even easier - you just get a card reader and pop it in your computer.

It sounds like your computer is not recognizing the phone - you may need to get the correct drivers for you computer OS for p2k to work correctly.

I think it's the V3m? But yeah it is one of those old ones. I don't have an sd card but even though I can't see anything, I can still maneuver around to my videos and recordings and hear the audio so I know the stuff is still there. I'm pretty sure my computer recognizes the phone. The first time I plugged it in, I actually got a message that told me it didn't, so I was directed to either Motorola's or Verizon's website (I can't remember which) that offered a download to fix the problem. Now I have a little Razr icon whenever I plug it in, whereas before nothing would happen at all. The program just doesn't seem to register.
