How-to: Moto E: Managing Contacts and Caller Groups

Contact Management

Adding a New Contact:

1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
2. Tap "People"
3. Tap the "Add contact" icon depicting a "+" next to a human figure
4. Type in the contact's name
5. Enter the contact's phone number in the appropriate field
6. Provide any additional information as you desire
7. When ready, tap "Done" to save the contact

Using the Direct Dial Widget for Speed Dialing:

1. Press and hold an empty space on your home screen
2. Tap "Widgets"
3. Scroll through your widgets and find the "Direct Dial" widget
4. Tap and hold the "Direct Dial" widget, and drop it on top of a home screen
5. Once the "People app" or "Contacts" list appears, select the desired contacts
6. Repeat the process until you have added all the contacts that you want
7. You can also create a folder for Direct Dial shortcuts, by dropping a new Direct Dial shortcut on top of an existing one

Importing / Exporting Contacts from the SD Card:

1. Tap the "Applications" icon while viewing a home screen
2. Tap "People"
3. Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Import / Export"
4. Select either "Import from storage" or "Export from storage"
5. Follow any additional prompts, and tap "OK"

Importing / Exporting Contacts from the SIM Card:

1. Launch the "People" application
2. Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Import / Export"
3. Tap "Import from SIM card" or "Export to SIM card"
4. Perform any self-explanatory steps as they appear
5. Tap "OK"

Deleting Contacts:

1. From any home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
2. Tap "People"
3. Select the contact that you wish to delete
4. Tap the "Menu" icon
5. Tap "Delete" and press "OK" to confirm

Managing Caller Groups

Creating a New Caller Group:

1. While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
2. Launch the "People" application
3. Access the "Groups" tab
4. Tap "Add Group" and type in a name for the group
5. To search for contacts that you want to add, type in the contact's name
6. When ready, tap "Done"

Adding Contacts to an Existing Caller Group:

1. Open the apps drawer
2. Launch the "People" application
3. Access the "Groups" tab located at the upper-right corner of the screen
4. Select the desired group
5. Tap "Menu" > "Edit"
6. Enter the contact's name in the "Type person's name" field
7. Repeat the process to add multiple contacts
8. Tap "Done" to save the changes
