Using iTunes:
NOTE: Using a Computer with iTunes installed and access to the Internet, you can sync the contacts stored on your iPhone with a Google account, allowing you to then re-sync the contacts from the account with your Nexus 6:
- Open iTunes on your computer
- Establish a USB connection between the computer and iPhone
- Once it connects, the iPhone will appear in iTunes. Go to the phone's summary page
- Access the "Info" tab and mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts With"
- From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
- Enter your Google account's log in details. If you've already added a Google account in iTunes prior to following this guide you can click "Configure" and select it from the list
- Start the sync by clicking "Apply"
- Register the same Google account on your Nexus 6 and allow it to sync contacts with your phone
Using iCloud:
NOTE: If you've used the iCloud backup service before, then your iPhone contacts should be stored on your iCloud account. You can access the account on a computer with Internet access, and export the contacts in the form of a VCF file for Android use:
- Open your computer's Internet browser
- Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and log in with your iCloud account
- Access "Contacts" and select the contacts you wish to export
- Click the "Settings" button and select "Export vCard"
- Wait for the file to be downloaded on your computer
- Once you have the file you can import it to "Google Contacts" or you can skip this and perform the step below instead:
- Connect the Nexus 6 to your computer via USB and copy the VCF file to the phone's storage. Then, launch "Contacts", tap "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from storage". If necessary create or sign in with an account, and follow the on-screen steps to browse for and import the vCard file's contents to your phonebook
Using "My Contacts Backup":
NOTE: My Contacts Backup is a third party applications that allows you to transfer contacts from your iPhone by backing them up in a VCF file which can be transferred to the iPhone via email:
- Launch the App Store and download "My Contacts Backup" on the iPhone
- Open the application and tap "Backup"
- After the file is created, tap "Email"
- Compose a new email with the VCF file attached to it
- Send the email to your own Gmail address
- On the Nexus 6, open the email and download the attached vCard file
- Import the file via the "Contacts" application and the "Import" option from the menu
Using "Send Anywhere":
NOTE: Another 3rd party app that enables you to transfer contacts cross platform without needing a computer is "Send Anywhere". The app uses a P2P connection for transferring various file types:
- Go to the App Store and install "Send Anywhere" on your iPhone
- Install the app on the Nexus 6 via the Google Play Store
- Launch the application on both smartphones
- Tap "Send" on the iPhone, and select "Contacts"
- Choose the contacts you want to transfer and tap "Send"
- Select the desired transfer method. You can tap "Receive" on the Nexus 6 and enter the transfer code that is randomly generated on the iPhone to begin the transfer. Tapping "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone allows the app to create a QR code which can be scanned with the Nexus 6's camera to commence the transfer
