Back Up Applications:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Go to “Settings”
- Swipe to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup & reset”
- Check the “Back up my data” option to back up account data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings to Google’s servers
- Enable “Automatic restore” to restore data upon re-installing backed-up apps
NOTE: App data will be automatically restored once you sign in with your Google account for the first time after a factory reset.
Back Up Contacts:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Tap “Accounts”
- Select the account you want to store the contacts on (sync)
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”
NOTE: Contacts will be automatically restored upon the next time you log in with the Google account used for the backup
Back Up media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Moto G (2015) to your computer via USB
- From the notification area, tap “Media sync (MTP)”
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, select to browse the phone’s files & folders
- Locate the media files you want to back up, copy them, and transfer them on your computer’s HDD
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the handset from the USB connector
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the phone and PC
- Ensure “Media sync (MTP)” is enabled on the phone
- In the AutoPlay window select to browse the phone’s directories
- Open a second Explorer window and locate the backup file on your computer’s HDD
- Copy the files you want to restore, and transfer them back on your phone memory
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device
