Turn on Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Under “Device”, tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”
Adjust the Screen Brightness & Timeout Duration:
- From the phone’s “Settings” menu, scroll to “Device”
- Tap “Display”
- Tap “Brightness level” and lower the display luminosity. NOTE: in order to manually set the screen brightness, “Adaptive brightness” needs to be disabled
- In the “Display” menu, tap “Sleep”
- Select a lower value like “15 seconds”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: Setting your accounts to sync less data can prolong your phone’s battery life in the long run
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Access “Settings”
- Under “Personal” tap “Accounts”
- Select the desired account type
- Tap an account and clear & check boxes associated with the desired sync settings
Minimize the Use of 3rd Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when you don’t use them (assuming they run regular processes in the background). You can disable or remove rarely-used or never-used third party apps to improve battery life in the long run
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Apps” under “Device”
- Swipe to the “Downloaded” screen
- Select the desired app and tap “Force stop” to disable it
- To remove an app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
- Tap “Mobile Networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Tap “2G” to disable 4G
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth when these features are not in use. This can improve your phone’s battery life on the long run.
- Swipe the “Status” bar down
- Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” tiles to disable these connectivity options
- To change the way “Location” (GPS) works, go to “Settings” > “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving”
- To disable Hotspot from the “Settings” menu, swipe to “Wireless & networks” and tap “More"
- Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
- Disable “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot”
