Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery Saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. If necessary, turn off “Adaptive brightness
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left side of the screen
  5. From the “Display” menu, tap “Sleep
  6. Select a lower screen timeout value, such as “15 seconds

Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth.

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Notification” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth
  3. To access more GPS settings, first go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  5. To turn off Hotspot, go to “Settings
  6. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  7. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” and disable the option

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phone’s battery life even when the respective apps are not used. This is due to the fact that certain apps run regular background processes. As such, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party applications.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Swipe to “Device
  3. Tap “Apps” and access “Downloaded
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force stop” or “Disable” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal
  4. Select an account type
  5. Clear the tick boxes next to the sync options you wish to disable

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Select “2G

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, thus you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Tap “Apps” and go to “Settings
  2. Scroll down to “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. In case an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
