Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display” under “Device
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  5. Return to the “Display” menu
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value, such as “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Battery” under “Device
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when the apps are not in use. This is because some apps perform regular background processes, so by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Access “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device “and tap “Apps
  3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the application
  5. To completely remove the app from the device, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use (Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS), you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. From the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable these features
  3. For more GPS options, go to “Settings” > “Location
  4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to the “Settings” menu
  6. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” and disable the feature

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: If you set your phone / accounts to sync less data or less often, you might be able to gain more battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  4. Select an account type and clear the boxes associated with the sync options you wish to turn off

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G

Keep the Software Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates can sometimes improve battery life, thus you should check for new updates regularly and keep your phone’s OS up to date. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Apps” and launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to, and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
