Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal
  4. To back up Wi-Fi passwords, account data, and settings, enable “Back up my data
  5. To allow your account to restore app data upon reinstallation, enable “Automatic Restore

NOTE: Data will be restored automatically when you sign in with your Google account for the first time on a new phone or after a factory reset.

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Settings” and access “Accounts
  2. Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Tap “Sync now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above will be automatically restored upon signing in with your Google account for the first time on a device or after a factory reset.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Moto X Force to your PC via USB
  2. Swipe the “Notification” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is enabled
  3. Open an Explorer window on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on your smartphone, and copy them
  5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on your computer
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and disconnect it from the USB connector

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between your computer and the Moto X Force
  2. Drag the “Notification” bar down and enable “Media sync (MTP)” if necessary
  3. Launch the File Explorer and locate the media file backup on your computer
  4. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  5. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray
  6. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
