Back Up App Data:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal”
- To back up Wi-Fi passwords, account data, and settings, enable “Back up my data”
- To allow your account to restore app data upon reinstallation, enable “Automatic Restore”
NOTE: Data will be restored automatically when you sign in with your Google account for the first time on a new phone or after a factory reset.
Back Up Contacts:
- Open “Settings” and access “Accounts”
- Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Tap “Menu”
- Tap “Sync now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above will be automatically restored upon signing in with your Google account for the first time on a device or after a factory reset.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Moto X Force to your PC via USB
- Swipe the “Notification” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is enabled
- Open an Explorer window on the computer
- Locate the media files on your smartphone, and copy them
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on your computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and disconnect it from the USB connector
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between your computer and the Moto X Force
- Drag the “Notification” bar down and enable “Media sync (MTP)” if necessary
- Launch the File Explorer and locate the media file backup on your computer
- Copy the files and transfer them on your phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
