Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal
  4. To back up account data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your Google account, turn on “Back up my data
  5. If you want app data to be restored automatically upon reinstalling apps, enable “Automatic Restore

NOTE: Account data and settings will be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact sync
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is enabled and tap “Menu
  5. Tap “Sync Now” to confirm

NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Moto G4 Plus to your computer via USB
  2. At the prompt, turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the “Notification” area
  3. On the computer, open the File Explorer
  4. Locate and copy the media files on your phone
  5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Moto G4 Plus to your computer via USB
  2. When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the “Notification” area
  3. On the computer, open the File Explorer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC and copy them
  5. Paste the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the handset from the USB
