Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  4. Tap “menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. Disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the brightness slider to the left
  5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep
  6. Choose a lower value, such as “15 seconds

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
  3. For more GPS options, return to “Settings” and tap “Location
  4. Then, tap “Mode” > “Battery saving
  5. To turn off Hotspot, go back to “Settings
  6. Next, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap to turn off “Tethering & Mobile hotspot

Use 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “more
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party applications can perform regular background processes even when not in use, and as such you can improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps. To do this:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device
  3. Swipe to “Downloaded
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to sync less data, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Tap “Apps” and open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS Updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep your phone’s software up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  4. Tap “System updates” and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates. NOTE: This process may require a reboot
