Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset
  4. To back up account data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your Google account, enable “Back up my data
  5. To allow data to be restored automatically upon signing in with the backup account, enable “Automatic Restore

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Settings” and go to “Accounts
  2. Select an account type
  3. Select the account you want to use for syncing contacts
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is enabled
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above will be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Moto G4 Play to your computer via USB
  2. When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”; otherwise enable the option from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
  5. Paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray
  7. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Motorola Moto G4 Play to your computer via USB
  2. At the prompt, enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, or enable the option from the “Status” area
  3. Launch the File Explore on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
  5. Copy the files and paste them back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
