Wow. Ok I have read all the posts and am now properly good and confused. I just picked up a Cingular 720, which I believe is the GSM model.

I would like to download / maintain my ringtones and backgrounds via a data cable (USB or serial). I plan on doing this alot so I don't want to use WAP for $$ reasons.

I can't tell if Motorola's Truesync Software & USB Data Cable Connectivity Kit provides this ability. Does it or does it only sync my contacts and allow me to use my phone as a modem?

I also see people using Motorola's PST software, but there is a lot of talk about frying your phone. I would like to avoid that. Is Version 6 now stable with XP? What benefits are gained by flashing to 720i? Can the Cingular 720 be flashed, etc etc etc ...

Finally, I find it curious none have published the interface. Since there is a PC Serial to cell cable, it would be trivial to packet sniff the data from the serial transmission. However maybe not so trivial to decypher it. Just seems if we can figure out the API it would be simple to create an application the community could use. Has Motorola published this?
