Big James! Thank you for the confirmation! I figure it's safe, but I just wanted to be sure. Yeah, I'm not looking to make a huge profit or anything, but I also figure it's kinda stupid to be month to month and not take advantage of anything. Whether I go month to month or switch carriers and get free phones, I'm still paying around $120 a month for my four lines. So why not get the free phones? Give it to relatives who need it or sell it on eBay. It's also a great opportunity for me to finally try out a high end phone. I got the Bold 9700. I'll be paying a data plan, but I've been wanting one so it should be worth it.

When 2 yrs are up, Switch-Back and take advantage of the new promotions again. I think that's the way to go!

    Thanks again!

1.) Is it okay to sell my at&t phones? This is okay, right? I figure it's okay as long as I honor my 2 yr commitment. Yes, this is fine

2.) If for whatever unfortunate reason I cannot honor my 2 yrs commitment and they ask for the phones back. Since I already sold them, can I pay them back money instead? They will not ask for the phone. You were given a subsidised price on them, so if you break your contract, you will have to pay and ETF (normally about $200/line)

3.) Is the new owner of the phones effected in anyway if I cancel my commitment? Not a bit
4.) Probably the most important question... Is it safe to sell my free phones? From my understanding, people do this all the time on eBay. They sell their free phones. Also from my understanding, we are not linked to our phones but to our sim cards. But when you pop open your battery cover, you see imei numbers, ESN numbers, etc. Can a scammer use these numbers to somehow get into my account, and run up my phone bill?
Once you sell the phones, as long as you have your SIM card, your safe.
5.) If you guys give me the thumbs up and say it's okay. Then my last question is should I unlock my at&t phones to have a better resale value? Is it okay to give imei to unlockers to generate the code for me? This is a personal choice, but you can unlock them easily and it may or may not help in selling them.

The only thing I will add is these phones may not get you as much money as you think. Check on e-bay or similar site to see what they are going for. The free phones normally have a retail of 200 or 300 but normally arent re-sold (like your doing) for a huge profit, just so you know

Here's my situation, my family has been with T-Mobile forever with 4 lines and all our phones are unlocked. Since we are not picky about carriers, my idea is to switch carriers to make a little money. So over Cyber Monday, I signed up at Amazon for their At&t free activation and various phones. I picked out 4 phones that did not require a data plan. These are all Samsung Mythic a897, since I see them sell for around $200 to $300 a piece on eBay. My plan is to simply pop the new At&t sim cards into our old unlock phones and just sell all 4 of the At&t a897s. When the 2 yrs are up, Switch-Back to T-mobile and do the same thing. So here are my questions:

1.) Is it okay to sell my at&t phones? This is okay, right? I figure it's okay as long as I honor my 2 yr commitment.

2.) If for whatever unfortunate reason I cannot honor my 2 yrs commitment and they ask for the phones back. Since I already sold them, can I pay them back money instead?

3.) Is the new owner of the phones effected in anyway if I cancel my commitment?

4.) Probably the most important question... Is it safe to sell my free phones? From my understanding, people do this all the time on eBay. They sell their free phones. I have the phones in hand right now, but I have 30 days to decide, I'll give them all back to at&t and cancel if you guys tell me my plan is not good, and that my perception that people do this all the time is all wrong. However, I have a feeling that my perception may be right. You're advice is much appreciated and thank you in advance!
