From what I understand you do not need to jailbreak, just unlock.

*1) You will need to jailbreak your iPhone. This can be a fairly straight forward process depending on the devices firmware (software version). This information can be found by navigating to settings>general>about. Once you have that information, you can go to Jailbreak Matrix | innovation has no restrictions and search for how to jailbreak.

*2) As soon as you process of jailbreaking is done, you will need to add a repo to get a cracked version of tetherme. Make sure you are logged onto your wifi. Now you will need to open cydia, click manage, click sources, click edit, then add the repo to “http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com”. It will pop up a warning, click ‘add anyway’. This process takes a few minutes only. Once this is done, click return to cydia and then go to manage>sources>sinfuliphone repo> and find tetherme cracked. Install this.

    3) Now that you have tetherme installed, you will need to edit your APN Settings. To do this, go to settings>general>network>cellular data network. From here, you will need to make some adjustments. Type the following in exactly as I have typed it (autocorrect likes to correct you here, but don’t allow it)

    Cellular Data:

    APN: att.mvno

    username **leave blank**

    password **leave blank**

    MMS:

    APN: att.mvno

    username: **leave blank**

    password: **leave blank**

    mmsc: http://mmsc.cingular.com

    mms proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com:80

    mms max message size: 1048576

*4) Whew, you are now all set up, but not so fast. Your data will not work just yet. You will need to log off your wifi connection. Then you will be required to turn airplane mode on, then back off. Now you are ready to send picture messages and surf the web!

Yes, it def will. I researched it for about a month then just decided I wanted one so bad I just spring for it. I purchased an unlocked iphone(at&t) & purchased sim from straight talk since I have them already & get full bars constantly & LOVE the prices. few days later both arrived in the mail. install the sim onto my iphone & has worked like a dream for 3 months now.... LOVE my iphone & love my $45 a month unlimited everything. Great option! Now they have so may smart phones to choose from, If I were you I would check those out instead of dropping a few hundred on an unlocked iphone.

Hope this helps. Straight talk carries mini sim & reg sims so a lot of options are there

    i found this explanation

it is very simple look at the top, there is a small pin hole, take a pin and poke in it. and the SIM card holder tray with SIM in it will eject out.

    Hello everyone,

I am new here and this may have been mentioned in another thread, but Straight Talk now sells just the sim card. You can bring your own phone as long as it is AT&T, T-Mobile or unlocked. I bought a used iPhone on eBay and ordered the sim card from Straight Talk. You can even keep your same phone number.

I got it working on the 4s by: starting with the st sim card in and the phone on, go to settings and open up the menu, remove st sim insert t mobile (only until new menu opens- then take it out immediately) reinsert the st sim card go to the bottom of the menu and hit reset- the att settings will come up- if they don’t hit reset again.
once they are up use the st setting by typeing over the one that are there. if you just fill in blanks it will never work you need to see the old setting before you proceed.

The Walmart where I live had 4 Nokia E71's last night, they were all gone this afternoon, the guy working there said 3 of the people who bought them were going to use the SIM card for their iPhones, but did not know if they worked or not, he said he did not know if the new E71 SIM cards were now branded or not, but these were the first ones they had received from Straight Talk in a couple of months.

I really don't know, but you might go to WalMArt in your area and see if they have any Nokia E71's left in stock, I know some stores still have them but if you check online with Straigh Talk their website does not show any GSM/ SIM card Smart Phones at all.

Wow... That is super lame. I thought there was a work around somehow. Wow that makes me really mad. I have my SIM card from another AT&T phone that i used in my iphone, will that work?

Nope you are stuck with the iPhone and AT&T, Straight Talk no longer sells the Nokia E71, Straight Talk for their GSM phones used AT&T's network and when people found out they could use the E71's sim card in their iPhone, people bought them like candy bars and started to cancel their iPhone accounts with AT&T, so AT&T presuaded Straight Talk not to sell the E71,so it is no longer available, do not try to buy one on E-Bay because it is useless with out the SIM card...sorry but that is coporate money working against us....
