Personally I have no worries. It lasts one to two full days. I've had it 4 months no problem.
I had the same problem with a dead iPhone 4S. I called Apple tech support and they gave me a great tip. Hold down the power button on the top AND the round button on the bottom of the front of the phone (at the same time) for about 15 seconds. As soon as the Apple logo appears on the screen, let go. Hope this helps.
Have you tried DFU mode? The DFU mode will probably revive your iPhone.

i'm having the same volume issue! only siri has volume control... but i did a full reset with no sync and still nothing...
iphone 4s volume problem, another major bug issue: 1. Siri may be the culprit.
2. Check the flip button on top of the volume up/down buttons
