You mentioned having too much loaded on it - that's very possible with the Droid 1. By today's standards, it's pretty slow and can't handle a whole lot.

If I were you I would save everything on the phone that you want (pictures, music, etc - you may want to backup everything with a backup program like Titanium Backup) and do a factory reset. I believe it is under settings > privacy > factory reset. This will erase everything, including programs, and set everything back to default.

The point here is to have as few programs on the phone as possible. Don't reinstall anything that you don't need. This should hold you over until Feb, then you can get a Droid Razr, which has about 5x the power.

    John,

My phone is the original Droid. I am eligible for an upgrade end of February. I am wondering if I should try to get my local Verizon store to give me a comparable replacement now,,,or wait until February to upgrade to a different phone. I am just getting more frustrated by the day with all the problems I'm having. It has become an unreliable phone. Any thoughts?

I've been having the same problem with my droid the past few months. I had been wondering if I have too much loaded on it. I guess that could slow it down, but would it cause all the freezing/rebooting/screen melds?? I am frustrated and would love some answers. I do not want to have to pay to upgrade. Is there hope?? ugh.

I have had 5 droids in 3 months... they all force close ... lock down the key boards.. power cycle in the middle of phone calls... I have had a droid for almost 2 years.. the first yr an a half no problems... last 6 months after upgrade ..nothing but problems... I think its a soft ware problem... what's funny is I know several people with the same prob... but none of Verizons techs seem to know of any other people have this prob.. I wd think that Motorola wd want to get behind this and get it fixed.. their Name is on the phone.. I have gone through 4 droid 2's.. now I upgrade to droid3... not getting better... the only answer Verison has for me is to spend more money and upgrade... really Verizon.. ??
    Does anyone have any answers?
