The manager of a local Cricket store also confirmed with her phone and e-mail that it is global. I haven't heard back from technical support, either from her inquiry a couple of days ago or mine from over a week ago. I suspect what is going on is that they've put some new e-mail security in place on their gateway, and they don't know how to explain it to customers without losing some of them--yet won't return to how it was.

For me there are two unpalatable solutions. I can stay with Cricket and get a smartphone so I get a push e-mail client--for which the downside is that all their smartphones are either Blackberry or Android touchscreen, so I have to spend extra for a phone I won't like. Or i can forget about going back to Cricket and stay with Net 10 and get constant reminders of minutes I use even though I'm paying for their unlimited plan.

Ironically, I initially went to Cricket because I couldn't send e-mail and have it received as text on my Tracfone phone, but could do so with Cricket. I need to be able to do so, as I get messages like that when equipment fails at work. And it has worked for over a year. Then I left Cricket, because with another carrier I could get that plus read e-mail that I can't with Cricket unless I pay for a smartphone and service. But I've found the phone and details of service with Net 10 annoying enough that I wanted to go back to Cricket.

Going back to Cricket, everything worked as before for a little over a week, then I stopped being able to receive e-mail as text on the phone. In my e-mail client I get an undeliverable message "SPF MAIL FROM check failed", in both Outlook and the Yahoo webmail client. This suggests to me that Cricket has enabled an anti-spam measure on their e-mail to SMS/MMS gateway that a lot of (if not even most) mail servers will not be able to send to. I've contacted their tech support, but they are clearly more oriented toward dealing with phone problems, not network ones. And it is definitely not the phone, as I can send from it to both e-mails, and send and receive messages with another phone. But this seems like the kind of thing that would be global, not unique to me.

Have any other Cricket users here seen this same thing?
