Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. While viewing the home screen, tap "All apps"
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Under "Device", select "Display"
    4. Tap "Brightness" and clear the check box associated with "Automatic brightness"
    5. Tap, hold and drag the "Brightness" slider to a lower (but still readable) level
    6. Press "OK" and tap the "Back" button to return to the previous menu
    7. Under "Device", tap "Display"
    8. Tap "Sleep" and select a lower value before the screen goes to sleep

    Disabling Bluetooth and GPS:

Bluetooth and GPS are two of the most battery-demanding features on your smartphone. In order to conserve battery life, it's highly recommended that you disable these features when not in use. To do so, simply:

    1. Pull the notification bar down, from the top, while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap the switches associated with "Bluetooth" and "GPS", and make sure that they are set to "OFF"

Toggling from 3G to 2G connectivity:

Generally speaking, 3G connectivity requires more battery than 2G connectivity to function. If you run low on battery, you can switch from 3G to 2G by following the steps below:

    1. Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "More…"
    4. Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
    5. Select either "WCDMA only" or "GSM only". Both of these options are basically 2G

Updating to the Latest Available Software Version:

Note: this tip only works as long as the manufacturer has released a new software update that improves battery life, or fixes possible issues with battery life on your device. Otherwise, performing an update does not necessarily result in higher battery life. Also, if no update is available, performing the steps below will have no effect.

    1. From the home screen, tap "All Apps"
    2. Select "Settings"
    3. Under "System", tap "About phone"
    4. Tap "System Update" and then press the "Check for Software updates" button
    5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
