Is there an app that doesn't require the person getting the message to have the same app? I also found out that I can't run Google Hangouts (it requires Android 4.4 and my phone has 4.0.4). I guess I can always send "text messages" from my e-mail account.

I checked on whatsapp and it appears that you can only send to people that have it installed on their phones - is that correct? I tried using Google hangouts and couldn't figure it out.

I have been using the pre-installed "Messaging" app and just sending/receiving text messages (no pictures).

I just got this phone and it is supposed to be able to text without any charge, while on Wi-Fi but I'm being charged. TracFone said it
could be a problem with my settings. Any suggestions?
