    Tavenger5, John,
I have the LG and have the new Atrix Motorola..I used your instructions and they worked perfectly. I had tried many other approaches and instructions from others yet yours is the only one that worked on the very first try..Yes!!!

    Many thanks.....

This thread and solution are solid. I just used it to move contacts from my vx8500 chocolate circa 2007 to the newest motorola droid x2. Had to download the LG software and with a little manipulation was able to do so easily. Good solution

I have an EnV2 and the Verizon store I went to didnt know how to transfer contacts to my new Droid so I did the following (this requires that you use Backup assistant from Verizon or you can quickly dl this to your phone before you make the switch):

Log into MyVerizon and then under "Quick Links" click on "Manage my contacts" and then click on "Export My Contacts". Once you have saved this on your computer, login to or create your gmail account and click on "Contacts". Next, click on "Import" and import the file you just downloaded. Finally log into Gmail on your phone and all of your contacts will populate.

If you are using Outlook you can export your contacts as a CSV file and follow the same steps.

The following will explain how to get your contacts from your old LG phone to your new Motorola Droid. This will work if you have service on your LG phone still or not.

If you have previously backed up your phone using Verizon Backup Assistant, see these instructions: http://cellphoneforums.net/motorola-...ola-droid.html

    Step 1
    • Download Bitpim: Welcome to BitPim
    • Connect your phone to you computer using a USB data cable (or bluetooth) (make sure you have the proper drivers installed for you phone - The current LG USB Modem driver is here: http://www.lgmobilephones.com/upload..._4.9.4_All.exe
    • In BitPim go to Edit > Detect Phone - if BitPim can't detect your phone check to make sure BitPim can 'see' the phone - Select Settings and Browse to see what is showing up on the com ports - if your phone isn't showing up go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports and see if there is an error. If there is you don't have the correct drivers installed.
    • Once you get your phone detected in BitPim go to Data > Get Phone Data
    • Select the data you want to import - in this case the phonebook
    • You should see data populate the PhoneBook area
    • Go to File > Export > vCards - save the file to somewhere known (like your desktop)

    Step 2
    • Log Into your Gmail account
    • Click Contacts in the left menu
    • Click Import in the top right
    • Choose file and select the vcard file you just saved (add them to a group if you want)
    • Click Import
    • Your contacts will be imported into your Gmail account

    Step 3
    • On your Droid make sure you have connected your Gmail account
    • Go to contacts > Menu > Accounts
    • Select your Gmail account > Menu > Sync Now
    • Your new contacts will be imported - Any duplicates should be merged.
