Well the 8100 is no longer available from Sprint for about the past year, having been replaced by the 8200 with more features. When I bought a new 8100 in Dec '03 , I paid $99 net after $150 rebate. You might be able to eBay them , but since they are not a currently offered phone, you probably won't get that type of price for them.

Also , they are still being offered in Canada as a current phone by Bell Mobility on their website new for $49 after rebate.

Be sure to call Verizon and Alltel and find out if they will activate it on their network. It will increase your potential pool of buyers.

However if it was the other way around: to avoid activating lost or stolen phones Sprint does NOT activate phones from other carriers.

No, we had Sprint before, but cancelled them and kept the phones, Cingular gave us free Sony phones (which suck) so I was able to unlock an older Motorola flip phone and use the Cingular SIM for mine. I was trying to do the same with these Sanyos.
Any idea how much these Sanyos retail for? They are brand new, in the box w/ all the accessories, I have 3 of them, I guess I'll EBay them, I'd really rather trade em for unlocked Motorola V400s!
    Thanks for the reply!

locked phones can be sold, if you find the right buyer, but sprint is the only carrier that carries sanyo phones, so im wondering, how do you have a sanyo cdma phone with cingular if cingular is a gsm carrier?

Ugh, that sucks, thanks for the reply though, I wonder how I can get these phones "unlocked" Cingular (my provider) is of no help at all.
Can these "locked" phones even be sold?

There is no SIM card for Sanyo 8100. This phone was likely on Sprint service previously, since Sprint is the only authorized dealer of Sprint phones in USA.

As to whether or not another CDMA provider like Verizon or Alltel will activate it on their network now as a used phone, you would have to ask them.

I can't seem to figure out how to remove (or for that case even FIND) the SIM card on my Sanyo SCP-8100 flip phone. I need to do this to unlock it right? Also, does anyone know how to unlock this phone?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
